Vizma Zvaigzne was born in 1992 in Sigulda, Latvia. She began her first musical steps with Latvian Folk music, first classical music education got at the age of 7 when she began to take piano lessons but her first serious vocal education Vizma gained at the age of 16 at Riga Dome Choir School (Rīgas Doma kora skola) in Riga, Latvia. Afterwards she studied Musicology at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music (Jāzepa Vītola Latvijas Mūzikas akadēmija) and at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart (Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Stuttgart), Germany. There she had voice lessons with Prof. Turid Karlsen. 2015 - 2019 Vizma Zvaigzne studied Voice at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy (Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin) in Berlin, Germany, in the class of Stephan Rügamer. Worked with pianists and coaches Prof. Karola Theill, Matthias Samuill, Prof. Stewart Emerson, Prof. Byron Knutson, Prof. Wolfram Rieger on regular basis.

She is a prize winner of singing competitions in Nordic region, has also taken part in many vocal masterclasses, amongst others with Anne Schwanewilms, Felice Venanzoni, Caroline Dowdle, Peter Sefcik, Prof. Janet Williams, David L. Jones, Prof. Thomas Quasthoff, Joy Mammen, Graham Johnson and others. In the summer 2016 was announced Young Talent of the International Sigulda Opera Music, in 2017 Vizma was awarded with a scholarship of Richard-Wagner-Verband, since 2019 she is a scholarship holder of Yenudi Menuhin Live Music Now Berlin, e.V.

Vizma has a passion for art song, often performs as a soloist in oratorios, as well as gives solo recitals in diverse organ music festivals. She also has gained experiences in singing contemporary music premieres and performances, as a soloist (compositions by Gundega Šmite, Armands Aleksandravičus, Evija Skuķe, Raivis Misjuns, Jiří Trtík and others) and as an ensemble-musician (e.g, XXVI Randfestspiele Zepernick, 2018 with contemporary vocal quartetts). Since 2015 she has been regular guest in Latvian Schubertiade in Ungurmuiža, Latvia, has participated in the alternative chamber music festival “Sansusī” in Aknīste, Latvia with solo cabaret programme, 2015-2019 has given performances in Lunch Concert Series at Berliner Philharmonie with Prof. Karola Theill etc..


Actively Vizma has also participated in experimental projects collaborating with Education Programs of Berliner Philharmonie. She has made recordings for Latvian Radio. In 2018 she appeared in Susanne Westenfelder’s musical theatre piece Schreib Dich ab! as Barock Lady, at the end of the year debuted in the role of Dorabella in the Hanns Eisler Music Academy’s production Cosí fan tutte. In 2018 she was one of the young singers of the Opening Concert of Kirsten Flagstad Festival in Hamar, Norway. In March 2019 she sang Alto solo in Mozart’s Requiem in Vila-Real, Spain as part of the Crea Escena festival’s opening event. In September 2019 she will debut in a roles of Ungeborene and Kinderstimme in a concertante version of R. Strauss Die Frau ohne Schatten in Berliner Philharmonie and Bucharest, Romania with Rundfunk-Sinonieorchester and Rundfunkchor under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski.
